May 2012 – Today’s ER Trip

You can call me “Spot”

Just a quick note about today. Lil’Sophie woke up with a rash that had broken out all over her body. We contacted the GI on-call at the hospital and they wanted her to be seen. So off to the ER we went. They confirmed that she was virus-free, and landed on the thought that she was having an allergic reaction to some medication. She was given Benadryl and discharged.

Obviously, we’re happy with the final outcome, but it’s a little frustrating to know we could have given her Benadryl and avoided a costly emergency room deductible.  But with a liver transplant baby no one can be too cautious. Once transplanted children can no longer receive live vaccines, therefore Sophie was never completely vaccinated. So we’ll always have reason for concern in these situations. We’re thanking God it was something simple.

  1. Goodness, thankfully she’s doing okay. Sorry she even had to go through that, but glad that Benadryl did the trick.

    • Yeah, poor girlie is completely covered in welts today. I feel so bad for her. But she seems to be handling fairly good. It’s just exhausting for all of us.
