September 2010 – Closing Doors

Cookie Monster

We’ve been praying for guidance. That God would open and close doors according to His plan for Lil’ Sophie.

Today a door closed. The Chicago specialist that was considering Sophie for a shunt procedure has turned her down (for the 2nd time.) We were scheduled to take her to Chicago on Tuesday for a consult. But in the meantime the Dr has spent some time going over her imaging files and records.
He’s arrived at the same conclusion as Sophie’s St Louis GI specialist which is that Sophie needs heart surgery before any other procedures can take place.

We met with cardiology this week and learned that she will need to have her pulmonary valve replaced. So we will be addressing this open heart surgery in the near future. We’ll update more when we know the date and details.

Please continue to pray for the team of specialists that are trying to figure out how to help our little girlie. We pray for a successful surgery. That her body will accept the new valve and she will recover quickly. We also pray that maybe this heart fix could relieve Sophie from the continual asites that fills her belly and has caused so many issues for the majority of her life so far.
